Yoga means “union,” union of the individual self with the all-pervading energy of the Divine, which is pure love. Sahaja means “born within” and “spontaneous.” Sahaja Yoga has as its starting point spontaneous Self Realization.

In the creation of the Life Eternal Trust in Bombay (Mumbai) in 1972, the method of Sahaja Yoga was defined as an "effortless, easy, relaxed method of meditation evolved by Mataji."

Sahaja Yoga means we are one. We are all Sahaja Yogis. But not separately. Together. (Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi 24 June 2007)

Sahaja Yoga is like a tree which requires love as the water. (SMND 14 March 1994)
